These 3 months have been the hardest and the best months of my life. I've tried blogging about it and have a million drafts but I just can't put into words how it has truly been. Good thing I have lots of pictures! Because I've got so much, here's life from month 1.
This first picture is basically how my life went for the first couple months. I lived in this chair. I slept there, ate there, fed the babies there, and sat there all day. This picture isn't totally accurate because I didn't typically get dressed into normal human clothes. I'm talking pajamas all day long every day. Forget make up and doing my hair. I figured the babies and I would live here until I kicked them out at 18.
We were going a little crazy...
This was my first time out of the house in forever. I can't tell you how many comments I get on our double stroller and our twins.
We did get newborn pictures (except that they were actually one month old), and don't be fooled, this was the most stressful photoshoot ever. Katy Malovich did a fantastic job and was so patient.
Look... so peaceful and angelic.
This photo is so much more accurate of how that day went...
See our happy family photo? If you look closely, you'll see how completely exhausted we are. Milk was leaking all over my shirt and Adelyn was still screaming! Photoshop can only do so much. :)
At one point, I just wanted to get up and do something, anything, other than sit in that chair all day! So we bought these awesome carriers. This is how Eric was convinced that it was a good idea.
I even tried double wrapping them in my moby, but by the time we got both girls in, we were too exhausted to do anything else.
It's really funny how we thought we were so lucky that the hardest part of our life for the first few weeks was waking up the babies to eat. After those first couple weeks, they decided never to sleep again.
And if they did, it was only in someone's arm, or on someone's lap.
Really though, the only way we survived this first month, and the next, and the only way we are still surviving is because of all of the help we have received and are still receiving. I can't tell everyone thank you enough for the food that was brought over, the gifts, the diapers, the support. I'm especially grateful to the grandparents who literally split shifts while Eric worked to help me out all day and all night. They are the only reason I got sleep and ate food.
I couldn't be happier to have these girls in our family. We are the luckiest parents!
