hello friends!

here are a few designs i have found throughout the week, just to inspire you.


This first one is a digital library by YTA. A spare room was converted into a multimedia library where the walls are made of floor boards and industrial lighting. By folding the boards either from the wall or off the ground, you create shelving units and tv stands. YTA really created a very unique space where high tech meets natural basics.

This next one is Fabbrica Bergen by Tjep. This is a very cool pizzera based off of railway cars where diners can climb up and eat. I really love the mix between these wooden suspended tables and gorgeous chandeliers. On the other side of the restaurant is a wall of wood logs used to fuel the pizza oven. It's really amazing, definitely something to check out.

This is Public Promenade by 3S Studio. This old railroad tunnel is not a pedestrian passageway between two cities. Sometimes temporary art exhibitions are placed in the tunnel. I love this urban feel. It's rough and hard but in a very inviting way.

Yoka Sara designed the Kayu Aga House in Bali. I love this. The shape alone is amazing, but the texture adds a lot of personality to this residence. This home is very open and very inviting. I'd love to visit this home.

This beautiful home is by Sebastian Mariscal and shows a Japanese approach to design. Please look at the website because just looking at this home makes you feel at peace. There is a refreshing pond with wildlife, and natural trees growing right through the fence. The bedroom is completely open to the outside, open to the natural warmth. Everything about this home is very natural mixed with very simple. It is really amazing.

This next one is an ancient passive solar stone house in Croatia. Building a home with stone really moderates the temperature and reduces the needed energy to be comfortable. This, and having big windows facing the South, brings in a lot of sun and maximum heat. Of course, this is only really good for hot climates. I love how the stone is embraced as a central feature in every room without being overwhelming.

Cunningham Architects designed this Wimberley Residence. Again, it is open and quiet. The home is L-shaped, the kitchen and living room spaces are in the glass portion, while the private areas such as bedrooms and bathrooms are in the second portion made of cement fiberboard. Despite these materials, the wood gives it a very warm feel.

And this one is just for fun. This "thing" is called the Ostrich. It is made so that you can sleep comfortably anywhere. With this handy pillow/bed/hood/blanket, you can take your beloved nap in peace, if you can sleep through everyone laughing at you.
