TV premieres

ok so i took the great honor of serving you all by reviewing a bunch of the great tv shows out there. (yes, you are so welcome)

the new official rating system includes the awkward, humor, dramatic, shallow, and love factors. It also explains what is going through my head, if you can start watching in the middle, and if it has a laugh track to tell you what is supposed to be funny.

ahem.

The Office
Season: 7
Laugh track: no! (thank goodness)
Where to start: anywhere
Awkward Factor: 8, let's face it. the office started what we now call "awkward."
Humor Factor: 7, still super funny, but nothing beats how it used to be in season 2 and 3
Dramatic Factor: 4, i don't think i'm ever even going to start tearing up unless its from humor but there's always something interesting going on when people are fighting over their romantic interests
Love Factor: 6, Jim and Pam are still cute and married, Erin is now with Gabe (uh random) and Andy is freaking out.

Overall I will always love the Office. And the opening song of this one is awesome! Dwight is still hilarious, Michael is still... a little messed up, and there are even some pranks in this one! well sort of.

How I Met Your Mother
Season: 6 Laugh track: yes Where to start: anywhere, i have only seen parts of season 1 and season 2 Awkward Factor: 7, dating awkwardness gives you more points automatically Humor Factor: 8, the characters are all so funny and unique! love them Dramatic Factor: 5, when its about how the guy found his true love, you know there is going to be somewhat dramatic, but not soap opera dramatic Love Factor: 8, Lily and Marshall fill up this role, and maybe Ted too someday...? But Barney gives great tips if you are trying to find love yourself. or just lust.

I just started watching this show with my roommates and I love it! If you aren't familiar, it is basically about Ted telling his children how he met their mother, obviously some wild adventures to get there when it is season 6. Love it!

Better With You
Season: 1 Laugh track: yes Where to start: well its the first episode... Awkward Factor: 5, some awkward situations, but covered up too quickly to really drive you crazy Humor Factor: 5, it's funny, but not snorting humor or anything Dramatic Factor: 8, this one probably has the most drama in it but not soap opera style Love Factor: 9, this one is all about the different types of love

Ok so this one is made by the same people who did Friends and maybe it will get to more of that point when it gets going more. It is about 3 couples in very different stages (one has been together for about 2 months and engaged, one has been together for 9 years and not planning on getting married, and then an older couple married for 35 years.) This one is amusing, will probably get better.

Glee
Season: 2 Laugh track: no Where to start: anywhere unless you want the full background of everything. there is a lot going on in this one Awkward Factor: 6, some people just attract awkwardarity. Humor Factor: 3, just not funny Dramatic Factor: 10, if you need drama and not from reality tv, find it here! it is packed full! Love Factor: 6, sort of, but it is mostly incorporated in the drama factor.

Ok I know there are a lot of "gleeks" or whatever you are and I'll be the first to admit I'm not one of them. I really like this show for the music; the music is fantastic! but the storyline is pretty pathetic in my opinion.

Outsourced
Season: 1 Laugh track: no Where to start: now! since it just started Awkward Factor: 8, lots of fresh awkward moments Humor Factor: 7, this one has a lot of funny lines already! but also a lot of crude stuff. waiting for 2nd episode... Dramatic Factor: 2, none yet... besides a couple of little rivalries between call centers which barely counts Love Factor: 2, uh there seems to be a spark somewhere that will probably grow

I'm excited for this one! But the first episode was kinda disappointing but probably because everything in it was from the preview. This one is about a call center outsourced in India, definitely unique with awesome potential.

30 Rock
Season: 5 Laugh track: no Where to start: wherever Awkward Factor: 7, again, lots of great awkward moments which i live for Humor Factor: 7, this one matched the office in its humor Dramatic Factor: 4, yes but not really dramatic, just funny Love Factor: 4, ah that dreamy astronaut! funny

I like this show but I don't think I've watched it enough to really get the gist of things. It is really funny though with lots of unique people.

Mike & Molly
Season: 1 Laugh track: yes (boo laugh tracks) Where to start: now Awkward Factor: 3, not really awkward at all Humor Factor: 6, but i can't tell if i'm laughing or its just the laugh track. lots of fat jokes. Dramatic Factor: 6, not a ton yet but i think there will be Love Factor: 8, this one is about mike and molly falling in love

looks good so far! i think my favorite part is when he asks her on a date at the end of the first episode. it looks good but not a super favorite.

Modern Family
Season: 2 Laugh track: no Where to start: i just started and wished i had seen the first season Awkward Factor: 6, definitely some cause for awkward but always leads to humor Humor Factor: 7, because family is funny and weird Dramatic Factor: 4, i didn't see anything too dramatic.... Love Factor: 7, it is about family and couples and whatnot, don't worry, its not vomit mushy.

i like this one! i will have to watch the first season to get the whole idea but i do think it is funny

Melissa & Joey
Season: 1 Laugh track: yes Where to start: here it begins! Awkward Factor: 5, just the idea is awkward. male nanny living with family of friend weird i don't know... uh... Humor Factor: 4, kinda forced... Dramatic Factor: 4, not really dramatic either. Love Factor: 5, there is dating on the show but i don't know that it would be called love

eh, its ok. kinda weird. one of those i listen to in the background while i play tetris so i don't have to pay attention

Community
Season: 2 Laugh track: no Where to start: anytime! now! go! Awkward Factor: 9, i just love awkward. and this first episode has the most awkward kiss of all time. well maybe besides she's the man. Humor Factor: 8, i love this one Dramatic Factor: 5, it kinda ended with drama last season but its all back to its normal funny quirkiness Love Factor: 5, sometimes you think there is? and then you realize they're just faking? sort of?

i would have to say this is my favorite on the list! i love community. plus betty white on this episode is great! definitely a favorite.

  2. Wow that's a lot of TV. Of that list the only ones I watch are The Office and How I Met Your Mother. I also like Big Bang Theory, Chuck, and Castle. :)
